Embrace Legalising Your Marriage
How do you embrace legalising your marriage if you choose a Celebrant?
Legalising your marriage is pretty straight forward, but you can embrace it too
There are a number of reasons why you're probably considering (or have booked) a Celebrant to lead your wedding ceremony.
The most commons one's being the flexibility in venue, or what can be included to make your wedding day more unique.
But it does mean that the legalities need to be taken care of too, and it can be difficult thinking about how you might choose to do this…
and if it “should” be another occasion you want to mark.
The great thing is, there is no set rules for how you manage this part of your wedding, but let's look at your options on how to do this and ways you can embrace this extra step.
Book everything for the same day
Let me cover the less common (but not unheard of) option couples take when it comes to legalising their marriage…
Booking a registrar AND a Celebrant to be at their venue on the same day.
This option means you would be able to have your super flexible, unique and personalised ceremony ran by your Celebrant, and whilst your guests are enjoying the drinks reception (or at any point during the rest of the day), your registrar arrives at your venue to formalise the legalities.
Please remember: this would only be an option if you were hosting your wedding at a registered venue and you could book the registrar for a suitable time to flow with the rest of your wedding schedule.
This isn't a very common option because it's the most expensive route, but if money isn't a big factor for you, this might be a consideration you like the sound of.
Let's now take a look at some of the other more cost effective options, which involve you attending your local Registry Office before (or after) the big wedding day:
Make It Just About You Two
Some couples love the idea of sneaking off on their own to their registry office, using 2 witnesses that are already in the building, and taking themselves out for a nice dinner to mark the occasion.
It's giving cute, understated, cosy, intimate.
WHY YOU MIGHT CHOOSE IT:
This might be perfect for you if you're keen for all of your celebrations and memories with others to be saved for the big wedding day, or you fancy some privacy for part of your celebrations.
Celebrate With Your Immediate Loved Ones
Perhaps you'd like to mark the occasion with loved ones by inviting some of them to be at the Registry Office with you, you might hire a photographer for a few hours afterwards, and then book into your favourite restaurant to celebrate surrounded by your nearest and dearest.
WHY YOU MIGHT CHOOSE IT:
This might be perfect if you're very family and friends orientated, and want your closest loved ones to be part of all of your celebrations along the way.
Hold A Full Blown "City Girl" Wedding
Have you noticed it's becoming quite trendy to have 2 wedding days?
People like Vicky Pattinson for example had about 3 wedding days, and I think I saw her in 5 wedding dresses in total.
Now, this obviously isn't necessary (or a cost effective!) option, or something you need yourself.
However, having a smaller city vibe wedding where quite a few people are invited and you celebrate with a smaller (but still quite traditional) wedding reception can still be really fun (if that’s what you desire and your budget allows).
WHY YOU MIGHT CHOOSE IT:
This might be a great option for you if you're having your larger Celebrant led ceremony and wedding day abroad, and not everyone you love is able to attend.
Which idea sounds like a bit of you?
Whatever you do is completely down to your personal preference, and should feel right to what you both want, and reflect how you want to celebrate your commitment to each other.
REMEMBER
There is no set way you "should" get married, so just like the wedding day itself, how you choose to legalise it gets to be your choice too.
